Setting Up Internet Chameleon 4.5.1 For Use With the 3ComImpact IQ External ISDN Modem

These instructions describe how to configure Internet Chameleon 4.5.1 for use with the 3ComImpact IQ External ISDN modem. The Internet Chameleon software should already be installed.
- Double-click on the Custom icon (Figure 1) in your Chameleon group folder.

- From the Interface menu, select Add.
- Type the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the Name field.
- From the Type field, select PPP. Click OK.
- If your IP address is static (that is, not dynamic), from the Setup menu, select IP Address. The IP Address dialog box appears. Select the red dot in the box. Enter your IP address.
- From the Setup menu, select Host Name. The Host Name window appears.
- If your ISP specified a Host Name, enter it here. If not, leave this field blank.
- From the Setup menu, select Domain Name. The Domain Name window appears.
- If you already have a registered domain name, enter the domain name you specified for use with the account. If you don't have a registered domain name, leave this field blank. When you have finished, click OK.
- From the Setup menu, select Communications, then Port. Figure 3 appears.

- Choose the following settings:

- Click OK.
- From the Setup menu, select Communications, then Modem. Figure 4 appears.

- Choose the 3ComImpact Digital Modem (ISDN), and then click Setup. Figure 5 appears.

- Edit the Modem Init string by adding S80=0 for PPP (single B-Channel connection) or S80=1 for ML-PPP (dual B-Channel connection).
- Click OK. The Select Modem dialog box appears. Click OK.
NOTE: For versions of Internet Chameleon previous to 4.5.1 choose the Hayes modem default and edit the modem init string as described above.
- From the Setup menu, select Communications, then Dial. Figure 6 appears.

- Enter the ISDN access number of your Internet Service Provider. Remember to put in any codes you need to make an outside/long distance call. You may increase the time-out value if you experience time-outs. When you have finished, click OK.
- From the Setup menu, select Communications, then Login. Figure 7 appears.

- Type your login account name in the User Name field. Type your PPP login account password in the User Password field. Please note that both of these entries are case sensitive. Leave the Startup Command field blank. Click OK.
- From the Setup menu, select Communications, then Script Edit. Figure 8 appears.

- Type -n in Script field. (To allow the login script to be ignored.) Click Save.
NOTE: In versions of NetManage Chameleon previous to version 4.5, in the SLIP.INI file in the NetManage directory, edit all entries specified for use with the 3ComImpact IQ External ISDN Modem to show Script=-n.
- From the Setup menu, select Domain Servers. Figure 9 appears.

- Type the IP address for your name server in the top row of boxes. Type the IP address for backup name server in the second row of boxes. Your ISP will provide you with the correct Domain Server IP Addresses if required. Leave the third row of boxes as all zeros. When you have finished, click OK.
- From the File menu, select Save.
- Close the Custom Application, then close Chameleon.
- Exit Windows, then restart Windows for the new configuration to take effect.
How to Open Up Your PPP Connection
- Double-click on the Custom icon in your Chameleon group folder. Make sure the interface you just defined is highlighted.
- Select the Connect menu.
